Is Your Business Being Googled?

Google Search Is Your Business Being Googled?

With Google, we have three Search Engine Marketing (SEM) choices for getting our company found online:

  • Organic / Natural
  • Paid Search (PPC)
  • Maps

Organic or Natural results are the ones we see below the “Sponsored Links” or “Maps” for businesses that have ranked well for “relevant” keywords that describe our product or service .  These keyword or keyword phrases normally take anywhere from 3 - 9 months to rank naturally based on a company’s SEO efforts.  Obviously, this is a range and can be improved upon with aggressive strategies from Content, Articles, Video, Link Building, etc.

As for Paid Search, it’s just that.  Companies budget a “Pay-per-Click” strategy to encourage visitors to click on their specific Ad that links them to the company’s website.  This is very much like bidding on specific stocks or mutual funds in the Stock Market.  The company sets what it’s willing to pay for a Lead, then caps this based on the PPC Management budget that was set for the month.  As with the Stock Market, bids fluctuate daily, and can range from cents to dollars per “click”.

The third option is Google Maps.  This is free to any business that wants to list their business location online.  It normally takes 1 – 2 weeks to be shown on the Maps once the physical address has been validated and verified by the owner.  Even though this is free, Maps is the newly contested area of the Google Search Engine Result Pages (SERPs).  As with SEO, there are no guarantees of position on the page, and you can be pushed down based on competitive factors that Google deems appropriate.

The best advice is to check your page rank and position by searching on those keywords that describe your company.  If you’re not found on the 1st page, then determine if an increased Search Engine Marketing strategy or SEO Services are right for your business.

Let’s get Googled!
